Potters settled in this city around the V th century but it is only at the end of the XVI century that we can trace back the bird of the renowned Anduze vase.
As the story goes, a cevenol potter saw an italian vase during the BEAUCAIRE fair: the decorations were flowers, fruits and garlands. It is said to have been a great source of inspiration for him.
Though a legend, it nonetheless remains highly plausible as BEAUCAIRE was a market at crossroads between Provence and Massif Cental untill the very end of XVIII century.

The spirit and rigor of this region instilled in the Anduze vase a more rustic shape. They are genuine, artisanal pots in which you can grow flowers, plants, even small trees like orange or lemon trees.
